Outcome

Set in an old furniture factory near to Shoreditch high street, Blacklock is a meat eater’s mecca- based around high welfare, sustainable meats, seasonal produce and affordable drinks.

Block1:Design were approached by Blacklock to design their 3rd restaurant in London, which is their largest to date and their first above basement level.

The site is located in the heart of the East End and was once at the centre of a thriving industrial area. The industry might be gone, but the buildings remain. The challenge of this site was to uncover and feature the original elements hidden behind layers of breeze blocks and plasterboard.

By using original and reclaimed materials the design team were able to replicate the original ceiling within the dining area. Solus worked with the team to supply an array of warm toned tiles from their various wall and floor collections.

A particualr highlight of the restaurant is the floor design, which features speckled slamon coloured tiles from the Porcelain Falre range, surrounded by a trio of muted border tiles.
