Charity champion puts her best foot forward for British Heart Foundation

13th November 2019

Charity champion Holly Oag helped to raise more than £600 when she put her best foot forward as a tribute to her stepfather.

Solus’ HR Manager teamed up with her sister Beth Littleford to honour the memory of John Leggitt who sadly passed away in February.

The siblings collected £621.92 when they took part in the Great Birmingham Run in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Holly completed the race in two hours and seven minutes while Beth finished in one hour and 41 minutes.

Each year, the British Heart Foundation funds more than £1million of research into all heart and circulatory diseases and the causes behind them.

Shockingly, such conditions are responsible for one in four deaths in the UK annually.

Holly, who is based at Solus’ head office in Birmingham, said: “John was an amazing man who touched not only our mum’s life but the lives of everyone in our family which is why Beth and I really wanted to do something to honour his memory.

“John suffered a heart attack in 2004 but luckily, thanks to the incredible research carried out by the British Heart Foundation, he survived and was able to live happily for many more years for which we are extremely grateful.

“We wanted to do something so that other families might be able to spend more time with their loved ones as we did with John so, although the race was a bit of a challenge, it was worth every step. I would like to sincerely thank each and every person who sponsored us. It is thanks to their support that the British Heart Foundation is able to create new treatments and discover cures.”
