About Us

Solus began in 1995 with a simple vision and a lot of hard work. Our founder, Peter Bentley, started the business from his family home, driven by a passion for architectural ceramics and a commitment to exceptional service. Supported by his wife Jane, they nurtured Solus from its humble beginnings, gradually expanding and building a reputation for quality and reliability. 

Through strategic partnerships with leading factories and collaborations with top architects, designers, and developers, Solus steadily grew. What started in the Bentley's family home eventually occupied several buildings until 2008 when we moved into our current headquarters in Solihull. Today, with showrooms in Birmingham, Manchester, and London, we supply architectural ceramics to projects around the globe. 

Peter's legacy of hard work, loyalty, and customer focus remains at the heart of Solus. His son, Marcus Bentley, now leads the company as our CEO, ensuring the family values and dedication to excellence continue to drive us forward. With Ryan Bennett, Peter's son-in-law, as our Managing Director, Solus remains a family-run business with a deep-rooted commitment to its employees and customers.

Our Sustainability Manager holds us accountable to our commitments and has audited our business, reporting on energy use, carbon footprint, and material recycling. We have created a roadmap to change our business and make us more sustainable. We work with manufacturers who share our commitment to sustainability. We have reviewed the sustainability credentials of all our products and producers, and we promote those which adhere to the highest ecological standards.

As the main sponsor of the Birmingham Architectural Association, we foster growth and development within the architectural community. We also proudly sponsor Building Brum, a cross-disciplinary initiative focused on enhancing Birmingham's urban landscape.
