At Solus Ceramics, we pride ourselves on comprehensive technical support. Our dedicated Technical department is your point of contact for any tile-related concerns. They provide expert advice on M40 specifications, including guidance on fixing adhesives, background preparation, and load-bearing capacities. They can also offer detailed technical literature and cleaning advice to ensure the long-term success of your project. Our commitment to technical excellence extends to all stakeholders involved – customers, project managers, installers, main contractors, and clients alike.
Our warehouse features state of the art equipment enabling us to cut tiles in-house up to 600mm in width and in any length. The multi-blade machine can hold up to 25 blades at any one time and pumps cooling water onto the blades as they cut; ensuring breakages and chipping are prevented. The water is then collected and pumped back to the system and re-used.
All types of tiles can be cut, including porcelain, ceramic and composite stone, although the best results will be produced when cutting unglazed tiles. The machine’s blades are changed according to tile type, whilst the speed at which the machine operates is also dictated by the tile’s material.
We are able to provide an inclusive in-house tile testing service on request, which includes the Pendulum Test method and surface roughness testing. This means that Solus can provide clients with all of the data required to ensure that tiles conform to the exacting demands of health and safety practice in an efficient and speedy manner.
We are certified to carry out Pendulum Tests which measure slip resistance on a tile surface in both wet and dry conditions. The tests are carried out in laboratory conditions in accordance with BS7976-2:2002 and UK Slip Resistance Group Guidelines. This method is recognised in the UK by the Health and Safety Executive as the true test for the potential of slip.
Solus also provides a number of surface roughness testing procedures to make sure that products conform to the demands of every individual project.
