Albert Road church conversion

Concrete tiles enhance remodelled church

Project Name Albert Road church conversion
Project Sector Residential
Completion Date 01/05/2013

Description

Converting a church into a habitable space cab be difficult, however Albert Road proves that with the right design anything is possible. Raw effect concrete is married in harmony with more traditional materials and features.

Tiles Used

Tiles from our Synergy range were supplied to the living spaces of two penthouse apartments and communal areas, whilst the Concretus range was utilsed in six other dwellings.

Outcome

Imbuing a traditional building with modern design whilst retaining period features is a delicate process but the Albert Road church conversion is a fantastic example of when this balance is married in harmony.

Solus were tasked with providing flooring tiles for the entirety of this renovation project in which a disused church was transformed into eight unique and contemporary homes.

A number of concrete inspired porcelain tile ranges were chosen for the dwellings in order to reflect the style of modern loft apartments but also to complement and enhance the beautiful traditional features of the church.

With the period stone cornices; rustic arched beams; and delicate stained glass windows it was important to supply tiles that would stand the test of time but also add a contemporary, residential feel.

Tiles from the elegant Synergy range and Concretus range were used throughout the development as the sole flooring material.
