Coventry Health Centre

Description

A striking new health centre in Coventry that features a daring veined black tile. Tiles from the luxurious Lavagna Max range was selected. The natural crevices and textures create a bold finish.

Outcome

January 2012 saw the opening of a £23m health centre in Coventry which features more than 1000m2 of interior flooring tiles from Solus.

The City of Coventry Health Centre, a five storey, 10,181m2 health hub, offering GP surgeries, dentistry and many other services, was masterminded by Sonnemann Toon architects and the interior colour palette was developed by Frances Tobin colour consultants.

The brief for the interior design of the building was to utilize and showcase ‘high quality, robust finishes’. Sonnemann Toon was inspired by Coventry’s rich industrial history and ever changing society and the colour palette was chosen to reflect and embrace the urban landscape.

The flooring in public areas in particular was chosen to create a contrast to the light coloured walls. Solus supplied tiles from the striking Lavagna Max range, which was laid throughout the public circulation and general reception areas.

The dark charcoal coloured tiles perfectly complemented the design scheme and were selected as it was felt they gave reference to industrial heritage and materials such as slate and lead.
