Description
A traditional theme with contemporary elements, the Hilton Metropole is an excellent example of marrying a classic tile with a modern project. The black and white is a classic and timeless aesthetic choice.
Tiles Used
Black and white mosaics in a checkerboard design and dark grey and white border mosaics from the Capital range were supplied.
Outcome
Solus have once again supplied tiles to a prestigious hotel in the internationally renowned Hilton chain.
As part of an ongoing £4m refurbishment of the 120-year-old Metropole hotel in Brighton, the Waterhouse Bar & Terrace has been created as an all-day bar and brasserie where people can enjoy lunch, dinner and cocktails.
The 260m2 hotel bar has undergone a dramatic renovation by interior design and architectural specialist designLSM, with who Solus have also worked alongside in recent projects such as Quilon in London and Carluccio’s restaurant. The brief was to create an all day bar and brasserie where guests would be comfortable meeting for dinner.
Solus supplied 60m2 of a black and white checkerboard style mosaic and accent dark grey and white mosaics from the Capital range. Checkerboard style designs are one of Solus most requested patterns and continue to be regarded as a classic yet contemporary aesthetic feature.
This particular project showcases a modern take on the design by juxtaposing traditional checkerboard borders with a diagonal tiles in the centre.
