Description

As well as supplying tiles to new builds and modern, contemporary projects, Solus also have a great deal of experience working with architects and contractors on complex renovation and period projects across a wide variety of sectors. Inverlieth St Serf’s Parish Church is a fantastic example of how modern tiles can fit into a traditional heritage project, bringing all the benefits of porcelain, with the aesthetic qualities of a traditional materiel.

Tiles Used

Realistic looking wood effect tiles from the Deepwood range were selected to replace the old timbers.

Outcome

Inverleith St Serf’s Parish Church, a Victorian era listed building, located on the north side of Edinburgh in Scotland, has recently undergone a dramatic renovation, which amongst other works has seen the addition of a complex underfloor heating system added throughout the sanctuary.

Solus were delighted to supply the new flooring tiles, which were used to finish the underfloor heating project. The brief of the project was to supply a quality wood effect porcelain tile that matched the original wood flooring as closely as possible.

The design team decided upon a light natural wood effect tile from the stunning Deepwood range, an unbelievably realistic range that replicates the texture and feel of genuine timber. The tiles in this range not only display lifelike textures, knots and tones, but are also finished with slight flaws, crevices and ridges- mimicking the qualities found in wooden floorboards.

Solus supplied approximately 400m2 of these 200x1200mm plank shaped tiles, which were accompanied by similarly coloured movement joints, and matching grout. Special features include bespoke access hatches.
