Description
Perched on a hill overlooking the majestic Falmouth coast, Merchants Manor is a well-known and popular boutique hotel famed for its luxury, comfort and hospitality. Solus were delighted to work alongside Helen Hughes Design Studio to supply tiles to the newly renovated spa and pool hall.
Tiles Used
A single colour tile from the Spark range was used throughout.
Outcome
Helen Hughes Design Studio, who masterminded most of the hotel’s renovation, was tasked with the huge challenge of remodelling the existing pool and spa at Merchants Manor.
The main aim of the new design was to create an elegant, functional space with a distinctively classical yet modern ambience that was also easy to maintain. It was decided that a single tiling material would be used throughout the entire project, echoing the aesthetic of traditional Turkish and Roman spas.
The Bride tile from the Solus Spark range was selected, which is a beautiful and faithful marble effect range that features dynamic and realistic veining and natural variation. Large format tiles in 600x1200mm and 200x1200mm were used in the pool hall, changing rooms, steam room and vanity area.
Helen Hughes, designer at Helen Hughes Design Studio, said: “In addition to the large format pieces, Solus also supplied bespoke cut pool edging pieces, corner pieces and step treads. These uniquely fabricated pieces were crafted from the same material as the main tile, which allowed us to completely maximize the potential of the marble tiles. These pieces were vital to the project as they helped us to retain the flowing sense of classical continuity that was so important.”
