Description

A mixture of finishes was used in this new University build to create an eye catching and contemporary floor design. Large format tiles were selected to complement the overall sense of space and scale.

Tiles Used

Various sized floor tiles from the Area Stone Range and a mosaic constructed from the various colours of the Fornia range.

Outcome

Contractors moved onto Newman University College’s Bartley Green campus in June 2010, demolishing an existing library and constructing a new, high profile library and entrance building.

The new, glass fronted development featuring vibrant decor and contemporary lighting was completed in the autumn of 2011, and officially opened on the 30 September 2011.

Solus supplied a number of products including floor tiles in the main circulation areas, bespoke cut stairway tiles and mosaics on restroom walls.

Speckled grey tiles from the Area Stone range were supplied in a natural and bush hammered finish in a variety of geometric sizes for the floor areas of the main reception.

The same range of tile was used also used on stairways throughout the reception area. Each tile was bespoke cut to size, finished with a bull nosed edge and three step tread grooves were cut and filled with dark grey non-slip inserts.

Finally Solus created an original mosaic tile using four 25x25mm sized colours from the vibrant and versatile Fornia range in restroom areas.
