Outcome

The eclectic Drift Bar in London, which features some exciting and original tiles from Solus, won a prestigious 2012 design award.

The bar, situated in the Heron Tower on Bishopsgate, opened in July 2011 and won a Restaurant & Bar Design Award in the ‘Best Standalone bar or club’ category.

The Awards invites and receives entries from the world’s top architects, designers and hospitality operators with a highly influential panel of top design judges, whose role is to recognise and reward entrants for design excellence.

Solus supplied more than 200m2 of a bespoke designed round mosaic to The Drift Bar, which is the latest bar from Drake & Morgan, the team behind other successful London pubs such as The Folly and The Anthologist.

White, grey and black tiles from the beautiful Ceramic Balance range, an unglazed, round mosaic, was chosen and a monochrome patterned mosaic was created specifically for the project.

The tiles were laid in an exciting fashion, starting on the floor, wrapping around the bar and countertop, climbing up a wall and molding around the ceiling of a seated eating area.
