How did you come to work at Solus?
Aaron
I was looking for a new opportunity. I know Pete Toule (a long-serving Solus Area Sales Manager) very well and am a long-time admirer of Solus. We had a chance conversation and discussed a vacancy for an Area Sales Manager, I jumped at the chance and fortunately got the job.
Conleth
What are you most proud of achieving in your career so far?
Aaron
I have a creative background, working across many disciplines including, graphic design, print, branding, web design, and photography. Playing a key role in transforming a print company into a full-service design agency by building a team and client base that produced great work, is something of which I'm really proud.
In my most recent role, I supported a small residential developer specialising in A-rated and Passivhaus homes. I mainly focused on project management, allowing me to gain valuable experience in sustainable design and energy efficiency. I spent a lot of time on-site, gaining first-hand insight into the project delivery process.
Conleth
What do you like to do outside of work?
Aaron
Playing golf (when I can!), watching football and other sports, DIY at home, spending time with my wife, kids, and family, eating out, travelling.
Conleth
What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?
Aaron
Reading: The Art of People, by Dave Kerpen. Watching: Slow Horses. Listening to: The Diary of a CEO podcast.
Conleth
What inspires and motivates you?
Aaron
I’m self-motivated, so personal growth and achievement – striving to improve and learn new skills, gives me a sense of purpose. I’m inspired by creativity, whether that’s architecture, interior design, landscape design, product design, print design, branding, the list goes on!
Conleth
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Aaron
That’s a difficult one as I’ve been given lots of good advice over the years, but one that sticks out is to ‘surround yourself with positive people’.
Conleth
What are you most excited about at Solus?
Aaron
Forging relationships with clients and seeing finished projects. Relating to clients and the design scheme they have in mind, using my design skills and construction experience. Working with contractors using my understanding of their experience on site and the pressures that they might be under.
