Meet the team: Jade Whiteside

How did you come to work at Solus?  

I previously worked with Sophia (Head of Regional Sales ed.) at a specification company, so I have a lot of experience working  with architects and designers. When an opportunity came up in Manchester, she reached out to me and told me about the role. After learning more about it, I felt it was a perfect fit. Fortunately, I got the job, which meant I could stay in the same industry and continue working with a product I’m passionate about, while also taking on a new, exciting challenge. I studied Interior Design at University of Huddersfield, so working in this field is a continuation of that. 

What do you like to do outside of work?  

I love spending time with family and friends and getting outdoors whenever I can, whether that’s a walk in the countryside or a weekend camping trip, which I’ve recently started doing and really love. I’m now trying to convince all my friends that they’ll love it too! I also love to travel whenever I can, there are still so many beautiful parts of the world on my list to explore. I’m planning a trip to Japan next year, New York has been on the cards for a while and I’d love to see Marrakech. 

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?  

I’m currently reading a book by Karin Slaughter – I love a good thriller, although I’m quite eclectic in my tastes, I’ve recently read Taylor Jenkins Reid and Dolly Allerton. When it comes to music, I usually have Magic Radio on whether I’m driving or at home, and for TV I’m watching The Stolen Girl on Disney+. 

What inspires and motivates you?  

Working  with people who are passionate about what they do. That kind of enthusiasm is really inspiring to be around, and it encourages me to bring the same energy and pride into my own work. 

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?  

‘Never be afraid to ask’. 

What are you most excited about at Solus?  

The opportunity to combine my background in interior design with building strong relationships in the industry. I love working with designers and architects and being part of the creative process, helping bring their ideas to life through the products we offer.  
 
I’ve been really welcomed at Solus and I’m enjoying being part of the team in Manchester. Solus takes sustainability seriously and to another level, and that really pleases me.
